The CM 500M is a very easy to use portable barcode data collector that is also equally usable as an ordinary
barcode scanner.
While many data collectors on the market need software to be installed on the PC to operate, the CM 500M
simply installs itself as a USB HID, (i.e. driverless install) device. Then when plugged in it operates as a standard
scanner would, but when unplugged from the PC any barcodes scanned are stored in it's memory. A feature of the CM 500M is the capability to program the unit to add a date/time stamp to each barcode as it is scanned.

Examples of the use of the date/time stamp could be when the CM500M is used to record the movement of Cleaners/Janitors as they attend their rounds, or that of Security Patrols, Nurses, Drivers, and students attending class, management of documents and files (the latter is expecially useful in health care environments where patient records are dispersed throughout the organisation). 

 When reconnected to the PC simply press the upload button and all stored barcodes/date time stamps, are sent to the program that is running in the PC, ie Excel Spreadsheet, Microsoft Word etc. Plugging the scanner back into the PC also recharges the CM 500s Lithium Ion battery
